“Fiona has two decades of experience in retail and supply chain sustainability management, with roles at Sainsbury’s (17 years), John Lewis Partnership (2 years), Marks & Spencer (8 years), and Olam AtSource (4 years) before joining Bakkavor in 2022. She has a history of success in developing strategies and partnerships to address commodity driven deforestation and is well recognised as a leader in this area. Although the primary objective of much of this activity was to conserve natural habitats, protecting human rights in workplaces, farms, plantations, and communities has consistently been a key component.
Fiona has extensive experience in initiating and leading collaborative initiatives within the retail sector (Palm Oil Collaboration, Palm Oil Traceability Initiative, and Soy Working Group) and co-chaired the CGF Soy and Palm Oil Working Groups, gaining support for innovative sustainability policies adopted by many of the world’s largest consumer goods and retail businesses. She also also represented the retail sector on RSPO Board of Governors for four years, leading a Board Governance review in 2017. She is Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Sumatran Orangutan Society, and a member of Trase Advisory Board. In 2022 she was nominated by her peers to join the FNET Board.”
The Food Network for Ethical Trade (FNET) connects major UK food retailers, manufacturers, suppliers and a range of small, medium and large food companies to build more ethical trade by identifying and tackling human rights issues in food supply chains.
